Getting to travel for senior photos is always a fun change of scenery, but this one came with a little family connection too! My brother recently relocated to Southeast Michigan, which gave me the perfect excuse to head north for a visit. While I was there, I got to photograph my sister-in-law’s cousin, Alex, for his senior photos!
We spent the evening running around Clarkston and hitting a little bit of everything. First, we started at Depot Park for a casual, laid-back feel. The greenery gave us such an easy backdrop to kick off his session. We walked around, chatted, and kept the whole thing super simple.
From there, we headed into downtown Clarkston. I loved getting to explore somewhere totally new while finding fun little spots for photos along the way. Plus, it gave us a completely different look without having to go far, which is always a win.
And honestly, that’s exactly how senior boy sessions should be!
I know senior photos might not be at the VERY top of every senior guy’s list. But I promise, they do not have to be awkward, painful, or take your entire day. We keep moving, switch things up, and get plenty of variety without making it a whole production. Easy peasy!
For the last part of Alex’s session, we headed to Clarkston High School to incorporate something that is actually a big part of his senior year: lacrosse!
Once we got there, we made our way down to the football field, and WOW. Clarkston has such a gorgeous facility! It gave us the perfect backdrop to finish his session and add something a little more personal to his senior photos. I always love when seniors incorporate a sport, hobby, or activity that has been a big part of their high school experience.
By the end of the evening, we had wandered through the park, explored downtown, and finished right where Alex has spent so much of his high school career. Overall, we got three totally different looks, one easy senior session, and no painful hours of posing required.
Alex, thanks for letting me run you all around Clarkston for the evening! I had so much fun exploring a new place and capturing this exciting part of your senior year. It was the perfect excuse to mix a little work into my Michigan trip!!
xoxo,
Amanda
