Some wedding days are beautiful because everything goes according to plan. Others are beautiful because of the people, the energy, and the joy that fills every moment.
Lauren and Ryan’s wedding at Seay Point at Lake Anna was definitely the second one.
From the moment I arrived, the entire day felt so relaxed. It was one of those weddings where nobody was stressed, nobody was rushing, and everyone was simply enjoying being together. It was a warm, sunny June day, and every part of the celebration felt easy in the best way.
Lauren and Ryan are high school sweethearts, which made this wedding even more special for me. Lauren and I actually went to the same high school, so getting to photograph this chapter of their story felt like such an honor.
One of my favorite parts of the day was Lauren herself. She was genuinely soaking in every single second. All day long she kept saying things like, “This is the best day ever!” and “I’m having so much fun!” And somehow, in the middle of everything, she kept stopping to thank me for being there. As if I would’ve wanted to be anywhere else!
Watching someone be that present on their wedding day is so refreshing. She wasn’t worried about timelines or tiny details. Instead, she was focused on the people she loves, and I think that’s exactly what made the day feel so special.
The bridesmaids wore the prettiest blue dresses, which looked so perfect against the summer scenery at Lake Anna. Lauren wore a timeless satin ballgown that somehow felt both elegant and effortless. She looked absolutely stunning, and every time she walked across the property, her dress floated so beautifully behind her.
Before the ceremony, Lauren shared an emotional first look with her dad and her brothers. There definitely wasn’t a dry eye around. It was one of those quiet moments that reminds you what wedding days are really about.
Lauren’s brother showed up wearing custom socks covered in childhood photos of Lauren and Ryan. It was such a simple detail, but it had everyone laughing and perfectly captured the fun, laid-back spirit of the day.
Throughout the afternoon, everyone just… hung out.
People talked, laughed, celebrated, and enjoyed being together. There wasn’t any pressure to rush from one thing to the next. Instead, the whole day unfolded naturally, which made documenting it feel incredibly genuine.
And then they brought in an ice cream boat! Seriously… HOW FUN!! And sooo Lake Anna core. Guests wandered down to grab a sweet treat, enjoyed a few minutes by the lake, and then headed right back to the party. Nothing better than a treat for a warm June wedding!
My favorite weddings are those where the couples spend less time worrying about the schedule and more time living in the moment, and Lauren and Ryan definitely made that happen.
Lauren and Ryan, thank you for letting me be a small part of such an incredible day. It was filled with so much joy, so much laughter, and so many people who love you both deeply. Getting to celebrate your story—from high school sweethearts to husband and wife—was such a privilege, and it’s a wedding I’ll remember for a long time.
