Shannon and Kyle got married on a sunny May day just south of Charlottesville, Virginia with all their close friends and family! Avon Hill and Bruce’s Barn provided a stunning mountain backdrop for their ceremony.
We began the day just hanging out, taking getting ready photos, detail shots, and exploring the venue. Shannon had a first look with her dad and a fun one with Kyle’s groomsmen before meeting for their own first look. The two got the chance to spend a few minutes together before making their way down to the incredible mountain views to say their private vows to each other. I could not get over the views the whole time! I was able to pop up to the porch to photograph the moment and wow did it really showcase what a gorgeous venue the couple chose!
After getting their family formals done, we moved on to the ceremony and just- wow, wow, wow! From the floral pillars to the love Shannon and Kyle share, their ceremony goes down as one of my favorites! I adored the large tree branches that split in two just behind the couple as they pledged their love for one another. Such a special little hidden meaning tied up in all the details of the ceremony.
Shannon and Kyle were officially married!! We did a cute little confetti pop with immediate family and bridal party then headed off for bride and groom portraits. Walking the property was such a treat. There were endless locations for photos including the tree archway in the forest, the floral pillars at their ceremony spot that I will NEVER get over, and a beautiful grand iron fence. After exploring for a while, it was time to par-tayyy!!!
We headed back inside to get the reception started. Their wedding party had such fun entrances and I loved Kyle’s praise of his new wife when they made their grand entrance. The newlyweds went right into their first dance which was actually sung by one of Shannon’s bridesmaids! She has the voice of an angel and the guests’ reactions when they realized it was a live performance was so incredible. Kyle shared the cutest dance with his mom and Shannon’s dance with her dad made the whole room tear up (I absolutely did too). Following that, we feasted on some barbecue and got the party started!
After taking advantage of the beautiful floral wall they had, I snuck Shannon and Kyle away for their final portraits of the night, my personal favorite time of day- golden hourrrrr!!! And phew was it a perfect one! We went right over to those mountains and had one of the best sunsets I’ve ever seen. What absolute sunset portrait session dreams are made of! But I’ll let the photos speak for themselves…
A little bit of partying, a fun sparkler exit, and just like that, this gorgeous wedding day came to a close! Shannon and Kyle, thank you for letting me celebrate with you two! I’m so lucky to have been a part of so many of your milestones and can’t wait to see where life takes you both from here!
